Donald Wayne "Red" McCartney, 59, of Washington, died Monday, September 21, 1998, in his home, following a lengthy illness. Prior to his illness, Mr. McCartney was a mechanic for several garages in the Washington area. He was a member of the Slovak Club and he was Protestant. On November 15, 1964, in Washington, he married Grace Marie Fonner, who died November 17, 1983. Surviving are a son, Donald W. McCartney Jr. of Claysville; three daughters, Donna Marie McCartney and Barbara Jean McCartney both of Claysville and Helen Louise Henderson of Washington; two brothers, Clarence "Buck" and John S. McCartney, both of Washington; a sister, Alberta Marie Coffield of Washington; a half sister, Catherine Schwerling of Washington; two grandchildren, Joshua Nathan Irwin and Anastashia Nichole Henderson; and several nieces and nephews.
