Joan I. Thompson, 63, of Butler, died Saturday, September 26, 1998, in Butler Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Thompson was United Methodist and was a past matron and life member of Mars Chapter No. 271, Order of the Eastern Star. She attended University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing. Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her husband, William B. Thompson; two sons, W. Scott Thompson of Tallahassee, Fla., and Steven A.
