M. Goldye Carroll Hattie, a resident of the District of Columbia for 75 years, died Friday, September 25, 1998. Mrs. Hattie was a teacher in Washington County schools prior to moving to Washington, D.C. She was a graduate of Providence Hospital School of Nursing in Washington, D.C., and became a registered nurse on April 20, 1929. She served in government service for 30 years. Mrs. Hattie was a member of Wallace Memorial Presbyterian Church, Washington, D.C.; Presbyterian Home; Georgetown Presbyterian Church; National Cathedral Association; Order of the Eastern Star, Electra Chapter 2, Washington, D.C., the ladies auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; Metropolitan Police Boys and Girls Clubs; and Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary of Washington, D.C. On April 20, 1929, she married James Hattie, who died in 1938. Surviving are four nephews, one great-nephew, two great-nieces, two great-grandnieces, one great-grandnephew and numerous cousins. Deceased, in addition to her husband, are five sisters, Zata, Reita, Velma, Gwendolyn Carroll Maddox and Audrey Carroll Evans; and two brothers, George R. and Oakley L. Carroll.
