Norma Jean Hughes, 71, of Albert Street, Washington, died at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 1998, in Washington Hospital, following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Hughes was a member of Avery United Methodist Church, Washington, and had formerly worked at Jessop Steel as a secretary for 18 years. She was a 1944 graduate of Trinity High School, where she served as head drum major. She attended Muskingham College. On June 2, 1946, she married Glenn L. Hughes, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, John Leroy Hughes of Huntingdon and C. William Hughes of Washington; and three grandchildren, Debra Jo Crouse, Nathan William Hughes and Kyle Glenn Hughes.
