Julia M. "Jay" Gabowsky of Canonsburg died Monday, September 7, 1998, in her home following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Gabowsky had lived most of her life in Canonsburg, where she was a member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church and its altar society. She had been employed as a chipper at the former Canonsburg Pottery Co. Mrs. Gabowsky was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 Ladies Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 861 Ladies Auxiliary, Greater Canonsburg Senior Citizens, Women of the Moose Chapter 166, and a social member of Russian Brotherhood Organization Branch 247. On February 15, 1945, she married Michael Gabowsky, who survives. Also surviving are two sisters, Ann Cheverine of Brownsville and Elizabeth Camerine of Follansbee, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
