Carl "Cracker" Williams, 76, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Washington, died Tuesday, July 6, 1999, in Arizona, from complications from a hit-and-run accident. Mr. Williams was a driver for Beatty Trucking, Suwak Trucking, Mashuta Construction and Art Proia Trucking. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion, both of Phoenix. Mr. Williams served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a champion horseshoe pitcher and was a former member of Horseshoe Club of Arden. Surviving are three sons, Brandt and Brice Williams, both of Phoenix, and Brian Williams of Oklahoma; two daughters, Carla Carter of Oklahoma, and Melissa of Phoenix; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Heinrich of Bell, Calif., Imogene Lovat and Evelyn Rush, both of Washington; two brothers, Walter Williams Jr. of Ohio, and Raymond Williams of Bellflower, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
