Frank M. Rhoades, 74, of West Alexander (West Finley Township), died Sunday, February 28, 1999, in his home. He was a member of Windy Gap Presbyterian Church. Mr. Rhoades was a World War II veteran in the Pacific Theater, having served with the U.S. Army as a medic. Until his retirement in 1985, he was employed for 31 years as a well tender for Columbia Gas Co., where he was a member of the Quarter-Century Club. Mr. Rhoades was a member of West Alexander American Legion Post 656, Odd Fellows Lodge 94 in Triadelphia, W.Va., the Triadelphia Marching Band, and bands in West Alexander and Dallas. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking and camping. On July 12, 1946, in Dallas, he married Martha L. Black, who survives. Also surviving are a son, William Edward Rhoades of West Alexander; three daughters, Connie Clutter of West Finley Township, Sandra Stollar of Claysville and Janice Ullom of West Finley Township; two sisters, Margaret King of Wheeling, W.Va., and Ruth Kline of Reading; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren. Deceased are a grandson, Kenneth Bradley; a great-granddaughter, Eleanor Mary Stollar; and a stepgrandson, Dennis Ray Hartzell.
