Monday, March 1, 1999 Joseph Lubas Decorated veteran of WW II Joseph Lubas, 77, of Peters Township, died Friday, February 26, 1999. He was born July 3, 1921, in Pittsburgh, a son of Jacob and Mary Lubas. Mr. Lubas was a member of St. Benedict the Abbott Church, McMurray. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II, serving with the 379th Squadron, and received the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was an honored inductee of the Wall of Valor at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 764 of McMurray. Mr. Lubas was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, receiving a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering, and was retired from U.S. Steel. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Lubas; a daughter, Aimee McCarthy of Richmond, Va.; a son, Randy Lubas of Santa Monica, Calif.; three grandchildren, Jonathan, Matt and Ben McCarthy; two brothers, John and Jacob Lubas, both of Johnstown; four sisters, Louise Kozielic of Johnstown, Maria Buraga of River Edge, N.J., Helen Taylor of San Jose, Calif., and Janet Pfender of Drumore; and numerous nieces and nephews.
