Bernard DiVincenzo, 93, of Jefferson Avenue, Washington, died unexpectedly Sunday, March 7, 1999, in his home. Mr. DiVincenzo owned and operated Bernard's Bar, a tavern in Washington for many years. He also worked for Washington Tin Plate and Pittsburgh Railway, and Abel Funeral Home in Washington for more than 40 years. Mr. DiVincenzo had been a former member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Washington, where he joined the Holy Name Society when he was 17. He later became a member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church in Washington for more than 50 years, during which time he continued his membership in the Holy Name Society, making him the longest active member of the society in both parishes. He was a member of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America Alpine Star Lodge 9 and Moose Lodge 22, both in Washington. For many years he was an offertory counter at St. Hilary Church. He also was an active volunteer for bingo and fish fries at the church. On August 16, 1928, in Washington, he married Mary Gualteri, who died December 23, 1991. Surviving are two sons, Bernard DiVincenzo Jr. of Kent, Wash., and Carmine DiVincenzo of Clayton, Calif.; two daughters, Anne Williams of Concord, Calif., and Clara Butterfield of Washington; a brother, Armand DiVincenzo; five grandchildren, Marianne O'Brien, Mark J. Williams, James L. Williams III, Sean P. Butterfield and Charla Butterfield; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
