Sara Mae Vavases Scott, 74, of Cumberland, Md., formerly of Bowie, Md., and Brownsville, died Thursday, April 27, 2000, in Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Scott was a retired secretary. She attended Winifred Road Church of Christ and was a member of Someone Cares Support Group of the church. Her husband, John C. Scott, is deceased. Surviving are four daughters, Victoria Thornton, with whom she made her home, Deborah Ferenci of Grindstone, Rebecca Donnelly of Washington and Tammy Scott-Levine of College Park; three sons, John Vavases of Centerville, George Vavases of Lorton, Va., and Timothy Scott of Beltsville, Md.; and 16 grandchildren.
