Owned horseback riding stables
Mary Virginia Bennett, 61, of Wind Ridge, died at 1:59 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2000, in the emergency room of Greene County Memorial Hospital, Waynesburg. She had been in failing health the past several years, but her death was unexpected.
She was born June 6, 1939, in Newburn, N.J., a daughter of Hubert Edison White of Claysville and the late Rosemary Rippitoe White.
Mrs. Bennett was a resident of Washington and Greene County areas most of her life.
She was Protestant.
She was owner and operator of horseback riding stables at the former Big Country Ranch in West Finley. She had been employed as a waitress and cook for several years, last employed by Casey's Snack Bar in Washington.
Surviving, in addition to her father, are two daughters, Ginger Hewitt of Morgantown, W.Va., and Melissa Toland of East Finley Township; three sons, Gene Petrie of Mt. Morris, Kenneth Mundy of Clinton, Md., and Russell Curtis Bennett of Waynesburg; a brother, Hugh Edison White of Prosperity; a sister, Charlotte Y. White of Mechanicsville; 17 grandchildren, including Victoria Mefford, whom Mrs. Bennett was raising; and a great-granddaughter.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation or services. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville.
