First Christian Church member was WWII vet
Ralph L. Hoge, 86, of Waynesburg, died at 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2000, in Greene County Memorial Hospital.
He was born August 13, 1913, in Waynesburg, a son of William McKinley and Mary Louella Mitchell Hoge.
Mr. Hoge was a member of First Christian Church of Waynesburg, where he was an elder and a Sunday school teacher. He sang in the church choir and in the Greene County choir. He also was the custodian of the church for 25 years.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Hoge worked more than 50 years for Electrolux Sweepers. During that time, he also drove a truck for Hoge's Bakery.
On April 10, 1955, he married Mary Kerr Hoge, who died August 28, 1985.
Surviving are two daughters, Cindy Faulk of Washington and Susie Cappellini of Morgantown, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Erin Elizabeth Faulk, Christopher Daniel Faulk, Brian Phillip Cappellini and Eric Paul Cappellini; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are four sisters, Aldine Meader, Virginia Scott, Thelma Baxter and Mildred Brigaman; and a brother, Kenneth Hoge.
Mr. Hoge was the last of his immediate family.
