Robert C. Cummins, 69, of 60 South Main Street, Washington, died at 3:53 a.m. Friday, June 30, 2000, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a brief illness. He was born August 11, 1930, in Washington, a son of Arthur and Ethel Carpenter Cummins. Mr. Cummins was a construction worker who was employed by various home remodelers. He owned a construction business for a short time and was formerly employed as a truck driver. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, receiving a Distinguished Service Cross and two Purple Hearts for injuries he received. On May 29, 1974, he married Florence McGary Elliott, who survives. Also surviving are five sons, Charles Elliott of Washington, James Elliott of Houston and John, Scott and Donnie Pickett, all of the state of Indiana; four daughters, Kathleen Capo and Creta Lee Elliott, both of Washington, and Renee Austin and Ann Valesquez, both of Fayetteville, N.C.; a brother, Charles Cummins of Claysville; seven sisters, Frances Lytton, Mona Lesnock, Shirley Phillips and Mary Pettit, all of Washington, and Dorothy Clutter, Betty Sprowls and Judith McDonough, all of Claysville; 22 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
