Richard H. Hess, 80, of Slovan, died Tuesday, November 14, 2000, in Washington County Health Center.
He was born January 22, 1920, in Mt. Sterling, a son of Frank F. Hess.
Mr. Hess was a laborer in the construction industry.
He was a member of Slovan Veterans of Foreign Wars, and he served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving a Victory Medal.
He was twice married. His first wife was Margaret White Hess, who is deceased. He then married Eulalia Hess, who survives.
Also surviving are five daughters, Wilma Prevost of West Virginia, Leona Silvers of Slovan, Martha Hess of West Virginia, Leona Williams and Mary Lou Hess; three sons, Edward Paul Hess of Ohio and Fred and Edward Hess; two stepdaughters, Jenny Pierce of Paris and Billie Bittinger of Paris; a stepson, Raymond George Latshaw of Washington; 23 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three sons, Richard, Eugene and Clyde Hess; and two daughters, Bonnie Lee Hess and Janette Hess.
