Leslie Cross, 84, of Cecil, died Monday, October 9, 2000, in Washington Health Center.
He was born July 9, 1916, in New Millport, a son of Vern Leslie and Vida Lillian Bloom Cross.
Mr. Cross lived most of his life in Pittsburgh and Cecil.
He worked for 17 years in coal mines and then was employed as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement in 1973.
Mr. Cross was a member of Venice Presbyterian Church, where he served as elder for 12 years. He completed studies in the Moody Bible course and was a speaker at Christian churches in the area.
He enjoyed hunting.
On June 18, 1934, he married Mary Tobias, who survives.
Also surviving are six daughters, the Rev. Beverly Blair of South Carolina, Shirley Senay and Vida Dellorso, both of Washington, Louise Turiczek of Cecil, Mary Lou Arlia of Pittsburgh and Debbie Williams of Canonsburg; two sons, Larry Cross of Eckard and Jerry Cross of Carnegie; a brother, Jerry Cross of McDonald; two sisters, Dorothy Campbell of Carnegie and Jeraldine Bloom of New Millport; 31 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Deceased are a sister, Myrtle Watson; three brothers, Elmer, Harold "Elzie" and Thomas "Scottie" Cross; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
