Garnet (Pete) Ellison, 79, of Valley Grove, W.Va., died Wednesday, January 3, 2001, in Wheeling (W.Va.) Hospital, after a lengthy illness.
He was born April 20, 1921, in Elm Grove, W.Va., a son of Roy and Betty Heightman Ellison.
Mr. Ellison was a member of First Christian Church, West Alexander.
He was a graduate of Triadelphia (W.Va.) High School.
Mr. Ellison owned and operated an auto parts store in Alaska for 26 years and was involved in the building of the Alaskan Pipeline.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a master sergeant for 10 years with duties in Japan, Alaska and many other camps in the United States.
Mr. Ellison was an accomplished mechanic, who enjoyed working on vintage cars.
Surviving are his wife, Alice Montgomery Ellison; a sister, Silvia Chaney of Lyman, S.C.; and two nieces and two nephews.
Deceased are two brothers, Howard and Gordon Ellison; and his twin sister, Frances Ellison.
