Arthur G. Barnhart, 81, of Avella, died unexpectedly Saturday, January 6, 2001, in the Washington Hospital emergency room.
He was born October 7, 1919, in Scenery Hill, a son of Hamilton and Sadie Ross Barnhart.
Mr. Barnhart attended Myers School in Scenery Hill. He was employed at Universal Cyclops Steel Corp. in Bridgeville for more than 40 years until his retirement in 1982.
He served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the France Campaign and was a member of Church of the Covenant of Washington.
Mr. Barnhart enjoyed gardening, travel and loved to trade cars.
On October 12, 1940, in Lincoln Hill, Washington, he married Isabell Jane Huber, who survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Donna Johnston of Avella and Betty McCombs and Bonnie Reynolds, both of Washington; three brothers, Perry Barnhart of Amity and Edward and Harold Barnhart, both of Washington; two sisters, Esther Beall of Scenery Hill and Dolly Colbert of Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Melissa Drost, Tom, Traci and Brandon McCombs and Janielle Reynolds; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a brother, Lester Barnhart; and five sisters, Lucy Wiltrout, Emma Watkins, Daisy McElfrish, Florance Sumney and Elizabeth Bedillion.
There will be private services conducted in Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington.
