John J. Paraska

Retired from Jessop Steel/Allegheny Ludlum

John Joseph Paraska, 64, of Washington, died Friday, July 6, 2001, in Kindred Hospital, Oakdale.

He was born May 5, 1937, in Washington, a son of Mary Gregosky Paraska of Washington and the late Fred C. Paraska.

Mr. Paraska was a graduate of Washington High School and Dean Technology Institute.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church of Washington.

He was an avid outdoorsman.

Mr. Paraska served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956 to 1958.

He worked as an electrician for Jessop Steel Corp., which later became Allegheny Ludlum, until his retirement in 1996.

On January 28, 1960, in Washington, he married Barbara Miklic, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Richard Paraska of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., and Michael Paraska of Portsmouth, Va.; a daughter, Erin Paraska of Kitty Hawk, N.C.; two brothers, Robert Paraska of Lady Lake, Fla., and Fred Paraska of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Ann Mages of Pittsburgh and Margaret Gregg of Washington; three grandchildren, Heather and John Colby Paraska and Jessica Boothe; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two sisters, Helen Moulden and Flora Sprowls.
