John H. Blair, 83, of Carmichaels, died Saturday, June 16, 2001, in Brownsville General Hospital.

He was born April 8, 1918, in Wind Ridge, a son of John L. and Marie Antoinette Lollar Blair.

Mr. Blair was a 1938 graduate of Waynesburg High School, where he was senior class president. He then went on to graduate from the agricultural department of Penn State University in 1940.

After graduation, he returned to Wind Ridge to help run the family farm.

Mr. Blair also owned and operated John's Corner Grocery on South Washington Street, Waynesburg, and later owned Blair Construction in Carmichaels.

He had lived in Carmichaels for the past 32 years.

Mr. Blair was a member of Masonic Lodge 153 F&AM in Waynesburg, where he was a 32nd degree mason; a member of Uniontown Lodge of Perfection; Scottish Rite Valley of Pittsburgh; and First Christian Church in Waynesburg.

On June 18, 1939, he married Hilda Lucille Gross Blair, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, John L. Blair II of Waynesburg and Larry H. Blair of Wind Ridge; a daughter, Carol Blair Spragg of Dover, Del.; two brothers, Charles B. Blair of Waynesburg and Dwight Blair of Orlando, Fla.; two sisters, Elizabeth Booth of Waynesburg and Alfretta Lemley of Zephyrhills, Fla.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Deceased are four brothers, Brian, Weeden F., Scott and Lloyd Blair; and a sister, Martha Smith.
