few vital records were kept back in those days, and those that
were, were usually associated with religous institutions, which
of course were makeshift at best on the frontier of Penna.

Based on what you know already, chances are he was born on the frontier,
and if there was any record kept of his birth it would have
been by his parents in the family bible. The best you may
be able to do for a death date is to track down the cemetery
where he was buried and look for a headstone. That could also
be the source of a birth date.

death date. You've already made an excellent start by narrowing
birth down based on census records. For some of us, that's
all we ever know.
